Incarcerating First Nations Women: An Intersectional Approach
The Centre for Law as Protection invites you to join a symposium celebrating the publication of the book, Incarcerating First Nations Women: An Intersectional Approach, by Megan Beatrice. The symposium will promote discussion on this new book and its contribution to our collective understanding of the crisis of over-incarceration for First Nations women, including to what end this crisis might be reimagined using a unique formulation of intersectionality.

The symposium will feature an ‘in conversation’ interview between Prof Elena Marchetti (Griffith Law School) and Dr Megan Beatrice (Deakin Law School), speaking about the historical and current colonial context in which the crisis of over-incarceration is located, the need for an intersectional reimagination of the crisis, and how legal theory can support this.
