Women Deliver 2026 Conference (WD2026)

April 27–30, 2026

Our Centre’s theme lead for ‘Protection from inequality, marginality, and deprivation’, Tania Penovic, was part of the Women Deliver 2026 Conference (WD2026). Tania Penovic is also the senior co-chair in women and girls’ rights at Australian Lawyers for Human Rights (ALHR). ALHR hosted a panel on “Rights by Design: Building a Regional Movement for Human Rights Acts in Oceania”. This panel was moderated by ALHR President Nicholas Stewart.

Professionals came together for this conference to discuss how First Nation and feminist advocates are working towards progressing human rights across the Oceania region.

The panel was based off Rahkel Mercy’s research on community work in Fiji and how local leadership in sustainability work is significant. Kavita Naidu also was involved in the panel, who discussed her projects on climate and human rights. Helen Dalley Fisher AM and Trinity Ford were in conversation about the possibility of a NSW Human Rights Act and how civil societies can assist communities.

We congratulate Tania for her significant work on this conference with ALHR!
