The Centre for Law as Protection brings together leading researchers from across Deakin University and external research partners. Membership of the Centre aims to build an interdisciplinary research community that is committed to delivering high-impact research, capable of making a positive change in the world. Centre members will have research interests strongly aligned with those of the Centre and make a commitment to contribute to the Centre’s research environment through active engagement in its work and activities including, attending Centre events and workshops; contributing to Centre research updates on our website and social media; engaging in collaborative research activities; attending meetings of members and research groups; and supporting our ECRs and HDRs through mentorship and supervision.

Members benefits include eligibility to apply for seed funding from the Centre.

Study with us

Applying for a research degree at the Centre for Law as Protection at Deakin Law School will allow you to undertake exciting research projects that aim to protect people, animals, and the environment using legal tools. You will carve your own path with the guidance and supervision of our top experts, making an impact and transforming our future.

To be eligible for a scholarship, students must have completed a research project in a related area, including a thesis that is equivalent to at least 25% of a year’s full-time study at Level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework, with achievement of a grade equivalent to a Deakin grade of H1 (80%) OR a Masters’ Degree (Research) in a related area.
