Animal Law in Australasia: A Quiet Crisis – Book Symposium
On Monday 14 July, the Centre for Law as Protection hosted a symposium for Associate Professor Jane Kotzmann and Associate Professor Joanna Kyriakakis’ book, ‘Animal Law in Australasia: A Quiet Crisis‘. This event was held at Deakin Downtown and brought together the book’s contributors, animal law scholars and academics and representatives from animal protection organisations. The symposium began with an introduction from the Centre for Law as Protection’s co-director and Deputy Dean of Deakin Law School, Professor Patrick Emerton. It was then followed with an introduction and speech from the co-editors, Joanna and Jane. The Honourable Emma Hurst MP delivered a keynote speech which highlighted the significance of animal law in today’s world and explored the importance of the book.
